Robot components metrology and testing center opens in Xinchang
The Zhejiang Embodied Robot Transmission Components Metrology and Testing Center has opened in Xinchang county, Shaoxing, filling a local gap in high-end industrial metrology. Led by Zhejiang XCC Group, the platform is a collaborative project co-founded with the Zhejiang Institute of Quality Sciences and China Jiliang University.
The center boasts 42 instrument calibrations and has solved 52 measurement challenges, enabling comprehensive testing for transmission components throughout the production process, from raw material development to finished products. Over the next three years, the center plans to implement 21 application outcomes, aiming to improve the metrology system for critical components such as reducers, lead screws, and tendon ropes.

Transmission components for robots are essential core parts of humanoid robots and are widely used in high-end equipment, automotive, and aerospace industries. Xinchang is home to 30 related enterprises above a designated size and five publicly listed companies, with the relevant industries having achieved a total output value of over 20 billion yuan ($2.74 billion) by 2025, forming a robust industrial cluster.
With support from this testing center, the region will utilize advanced metrology technologies to optimize component development and manufacturing processes, address technological shortcomings, drive quality improvements and upgrades in the regional robot transmission industry.
