Shaoxing receives 3.3M tourist visits during National Day holiday

Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province welcomed 3.29 million tourist visits during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, up 11.9 percent year-on-year. Overnight visitors totaled 1.96 million, an increase of 9 percent.
The city's historic streets, traditional architecture, and cultural attractions drew large crowds, with autumn rain adding to the charm of its waterways and ancient lanes.
The Lu Xun Native Place and Shen's Garden Scenic Area received 439,000 visits, up 53.37 percent year-on-year, while the Shusheng Hometown historic district welcomed 207,500 visits, a rise of 63.61 percent. Anchang Ancient Town also proved popular, attracting 245,000 visits.
Innovative cultural experiences fueled holiday spending. Across the city, immersive performances, themed markets, interactive activities, and nighttime tours blended traditional culture with modern entertainment. Highlights included live shows inspired by Shaoxing's literary heritage, boat rides along the city moat, and cultural events celebrating local yellow wine.
Shaoxing also expanded its evening offerings, with attractions such as Lu Xun Native Place staying open until 10:30 pm. Museums and cultural venues across the city hosted more than 300 exhibitions and events, welcoming a combined 446,000 visits.
