Highlights of the 10th Hangzhou Cultural & Creative Industry Expo

The 10th (2016) Hangzhou Cultural & Creative Industry Expo was held at the Baimahu International Convention & Exhibition Center, in the city from Oct 20 to 24.

As an important display and trading platform for Hangzhou's cultural and creative industry, it is classed as one of the four national expos in the industry, after nine years' development.

Smart application and improved interactive experience

Themed on smart technology and creative life, the 10th expo stressed the combination of culture and technology. Smart technologies were applied across the expo's ticketing, trading, and service areas, as well as an improved utilization of its official website and WeChat account.

Virtual reality (VR) technologies applied in education, medical care, transportation, were displayed for visitors.

Review of the past 10 years

As the 10th anniversary of the cultural and creative industry expo, the committee set up a special exhibition area with pictures, videos, materials and interactive exhibits detailing the expo's history.

The CAA’s exhibition area highlighted the academy's research into new media, technology, and art, and included a 3-D light show in Wulin Square.

Exhibition of cultural and creative products from Taiwan and the mainland

This year, the exchanges between Taiwan and the mainland have taken place both online and offline. The Taiwan to Hangzhou exhibition featured face-to-face dialogues, static displays, interactive experiences, as well as cultural and creative companies from both places.

Visitors were able to appreciate the culture, art, language and folk customs of Taiwanese aborigines, along with glasswork from Taiwan.

First appearance of the National Museum of China

National Museum of China, the most important museum in the country, made its first appearance at the expo, promoting its latest products about cultural and creative China.

Auctions of cultural and creative products

This year's expo has been extended significantly online. Hundreds of online auctions were organized by cooperating with e-commerce platforms such as Taobao and Artgoer.

A series of exchange activities also took place at the expo, including the VR TALK Forum and the 2016 China Creative Design Summit. In addition to the main session, five parallel sessions were also held across the city.
