Students from Zhejiang Gongshang University extended a Lunar New Year's greeting to Belgium through a series of delightful performances at the University of Leuven on Jan 21.

The performance troupe from Zhejiang Gongshang University conducted a culture tour of Belgium and the Netherlands from Jan 16 to 25. As part of the "2017 Happy Chinese New Year" event initiated by China's Ministry of Culture, the tour aimed to promote Zhejiang's and China's cultural characteristics.

Performances featuring Chinese traditions and culture were presented for more than 300 people, including Peking Opera, martial arts, singing and dancing, and sizhu (a style of folk music played with traditional Chinese string and woodwind instruments).

A distinctive Uyghur dance performance opened the show. Performers further enchanted the audience with a traditional "shao duoli" dance performance of the Dai ethnic group, an erhu solo and tea-picking songs.

A local singer and martial arts enthusiast, whose Chinese name is Lao Ding, expressed his love for Chinese culture by showcasing his talents in singing Chinese songs and Wing Chun (a specialized martial art).
