Zhejiang has benefited greatly from this year's World Internet Conference (WIC) as it follows its path towards becoming a strong regional digital economic power, according to Gao Xingfu, vice-governor of Zhejiang province.

Alibaba Cloud's ET Industrial Brain from Zhejiang was one of the 18 world leading Internet achievements released during the forum.

Agreements were inked during the forum between Zhejiang and governmental bodies, international organizations and global companies.

Zhejiang signed a cooperation deal with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to build a national-level Internet-based industrial platform. Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, is poised to become a global software city.

Tongxiang city, hometown of the WIC, has also embraced greater opportunities thanks to the event.

With more Internet projects, such as Wuzhen's Internet hospital, settled in Wuzhen, Tongxiang, the city has developed at an impressive speed.

The number of Internet companies in Wuzhen has increased to 148 with registered capital reaching over 4 billion yuan ($606 million).

Tongxiang city has opened 256 Internet projects in the past three years, with an expected total investment of 34.6 billion yuan.

The WIC Wuzhen Summit enhanced its visitor experience this year by adopting facial recognition for all participants as well as car plate auto recognition.

Such cutting-edge technology has been entering people's lives in Zhejiang.

The province has installed more than 2.4 million kilometers of optical fiber, the second longest installation in China. It has also achieved 100 percent province-wide 4G coverage, and 5G technology is in development.

"Zhejiang is opening its arms to more Internet projects and welcomes investments and talents from all around the world," said Gao Xingfu.
