Yuhang district in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province has been exploring a new approach to transform and upgrade its traditional clothes and textile industries by applying internet technologies.

At the end of 2017, the district initiated a plan and released new policies for the development of the fashion industry. According to the plan, the government will provide support for companies that are striving for intelligence manufacturing, acquisition and merger, research development and brand building. Yuhang hopes the internet plays its part and energizes the traditional enterprises.

China Ting Group, a garment manufacturer, exporter and retailer based in Yuhang, is a pioneer in utilizing big data and intelligent manufacturing. The innovative system developed by the group allows shopping malls abroad to receive information on the manufacturer's work and enables Ting Group to know the sales data from its partners.

Yuhang is also working to create a series of innovation platforms to promote the cooperation of universities, research institutes and industries. E-fashion Town, a characteristic town featuring an increasingly prosperous fashion industry, has gathered a group of renowned designers and fashion brands.

The town organized the China Conference of the Asia Fashion Federation in June last year as an important step towards an international hub for cultural businesses.
