The robot controller developed by the Ningbo company Emergen Group stood out at a national evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology and won the first prize for its outstanding performance in advanced technologies.

The controller, the most important part of a robot, is always considered to be the "brain". The Emergen Group, led by a group of top scientists, spent 30 months and nearly 40 million yuan ($6.16 million) on the research and development of the little component and finally broke the monopoly of overseas companies in high-performance robot controllers.

At the evaluation, it beat products from the other nine top robot corporations in China including Siasun and Googol Technology and received 15 million yuan from the ministry.

This kind of robot controller will be widely used for intelligent manufacturing in different fields, said Gan Zhongxue, founder and chairman of Emergen.

As of today, it has been applied in some factories including Ningbo Konfoong Materials International Co Ltd for unmanned production lines. The world-renowned robot construction company Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd from Japan has placed an order of 1,000 controllers from Emergen and will purchase another 2,600 this year for its robotic products.
