Deputies from Ningbo discussed the government work report, work plan and budget report of East China's Zhejiang province on Jan 27 and 28 during the first session of the 13th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress.

Mao Hongfang suggested that the provincial government departments should advise and direct Ningbo in developing into a free trade port.

Yu Lei proposed building a Zhejiang-Shanghai cooperation demonstration zone with the help of Hangzhou Bay New Area's advantageous location, industries and transportation.

He also hoped that the provincial government could help Ningbo define the goals and tasks involved in building such a demonstration zone and attract more projects involving technological research and development, advanced manufacturing and scientific innovation.

Zhong Jianbo hoped that the provincial government would support Ningbo in hosting more global conferences to bring more major projects and technical professionals to Ningbo and help facilitate the city's construction of a comprehensive experimental zone.

The congress also discussed a wide range of other topics, such as the province's standards for sponge city construction, the building of an international talent center, better services for the disabled, and improving the quality of common medical personnel.

Deputies all agreed that they should spare no effort in carrying out the measures proposed in the government work report, as this year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up and fulfilling the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress is of utmost importance.
