The Zhejiang delegation to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) held a panel discussion on the Government Work Report delivered by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on March 5.

Che Jun, Party secretary of East China's Zhejiang province, presided over the discussion. He said the work report of the State Council is quite inspiring.

"Over the past five years, the central government has taken on heavy responsibilities and has been effective in implementing policies and regulations," Che remarked, saying that Zhejiang's achievements have arisen from the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.

"In the future, Zhejiang will continue to follow President Xi Jinping's guidelines and actively explore ways in which Zhejiang can further develop socialism with Chinese characteristics," Che pledged.

Zhejiang Governor Yuan Jiajun said the Government Work Report highlights the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as its core, the spirits of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the 19th CPC National Congress, the priority placed on the people, the new requirements for high-quality development, and the continuation of reform and opening-up.

Yuan also mentioned issues raised in the report which he believed had a strong focus on the imbalance and insufficiency of social development. "Zhejiang will work hard to achieve high-quality modernization," he said.

Based on their work experiences and knowledge of different sectors, NPC deputies from Zhejiang voiced their views on the report from various perspectives, discussing issues such as higher education, administrative reforms, digital economy, and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

Wang Chen, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 12th NPC, attended the panel discussion and gave his comprehensive interpretation of the Government Work Report.

In his remarks, Wang praised Zhejiang's achievements and raised requirements for the province's future undertakings.
