China's top TV awards unveiled in Ningbo

Ningbo city in Zhejiang province hosted the 31st China TV Drama Flying Apsaras Awards and the 25th Starlight Awards for TV literature and art on April 3, 2018.

The Flying Apsaras Award, the highest honor within China's TV industry, was given to 16 outstanding TV series selected from 32 nominees. There were also awards for most outstanding scriptwriter, director, actor and actress.

Two TV series produced in Zhejiang province won awards for their touching stories and quality production. Shen Jie won the award for outstanding scriptwriter for Feather Flies to The Sky – a story about how Yiwu people do business. Chen Li won the award for outstanding director for the TV drama My Uncle Zhou Enlai.

Five special Starlight Awards were granted to the televised documentary Amazing China and four other programs. Fourteen broadcasting and TV programs, such as The Reader and Chinese Poetry, won the Starlight Award, out of 51 nominees

In recent years, Ningbo city has been promoting the film and television industry while developing a "modern international port city" and "oriental civilized city". As of today, more than 1,000 film and television enterprises have been stationed in the city, helping to form a complete industrial chain.

Xiangshan Studio, the second largest studio in China following Hengdian World Studios, receives more than 200 theater groups each year. The popular TV series Nirvana in Fire and To the Sky Kingdom, as well as the film The House That Never Dies were all shot at the studio.

In addition, a group of film and television industrial parks, such as Bodi InShow City, Minhe Cultural Industrial Park and Everbright Cultural Industrial Park, have also developed rapidly, making Ningbo a more influential photographing and incubation base for the film and television industries.
