Hung pointed out that the internet industry in Zhejiang and Hong Kong has different features. The East China province is a pioneer in innovating business models, such as the development of mobile payment and e-commerce platforms, which were quickly promoted nationwide while the special administrative region, influenced by the small local market, prefers a step-by-step manner of working.

"Hong Kong, with its prosperous service economy, is fit to serve as a bridge for Zhejiang to attract international investment and talents," Hung suggested.

Hong noted that Zhejiang has ushered in a new economic era with scientific and technological innovation as the core, "I think in the future, the new economy such as the biomedicine field will arouse the interest of many Hong Kong entrepreneurs."

Zheng Laili, vice chairwoman of Kangnai Group, a famous Chinese shoemaker from Zhejiang's Wenzhou city, shared the measures she's adopted to transform the company. A complete online industrial chain from research and development, manufacturing to logistics has been formed in Kangnai thanks to the application of internet technologies, which helped the traditional company promote its customized services in an all-round way.

"The entrepreneurships in Zhejiang and Hong Kong are of the same lineage and we've inherited from our predecessors the determination to win and the courage to surmount every difficulty," said Zheng, "What differs us from our elder generation is that we have the power of high-tech tools."

Compared to Zhejiang, Hong Kong has a relatively mature international market and has advantages in brand building, said Zheng. She believed that if companies in the two regions team up, they are able to make more accomplishments globally.

Jiang Xiaoying, daughter of the founder of Zhejiang Xiaopiaopiao Food Co Ltd and also a member of the company's board, suggested the e-commerce environment and new retail channels in Zhejiang could serve as a steppingstone for Hong Kong's consumer goods to crack the mainland market.
