The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB), the world's longest sea-crossing bridge, opened to traffic on Oct 24. Companies from East China's Zhejiang province played key roles in the building of the country's mega infrastructure and will be important in its operations.

Wecome Group from the city of Yueqing is the supplier of electric cabinets for the bridge. "Our company set up a special group after we received the task," said Wu Chunwu, manager of Wecome's Zhongshan branch. He said the project was challenging as it was huge and complex.

"All electric parts were customized for the project and selected from Wecome's most advanced products," explained Wu. So far, the company has provided nearly 800 cabinets to ensure the electric power of the HZMB's light system.

Enjoyor Co Ltd from Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang was the builder of the integrated security and protection system of the Zhuhai port part of the bridge. The whole system was made up of platforms for management, video monitoring and entrance surveillance, ensuring the security of the port's daily operation.

"Participating in the construction of such a huge national project is a recognition of Enjoyor's smart solutions in security and protection," said a staff member of the high-tech company in Hangzhou.

With an investment of over 100 billion yuan ($14.4 billion), the design of the epic 55km HZMB started in March 2004 and the construction began on Dec 15, 2009. The bridge cuts down car trips between Hong Kong and Zhuhai and Hong Kong and Macao from 3.5 hours to half an hour.
