Zhejiang province, Germany look to profit from digital future

In order to promote the development of digital trade and products, the Zhejiang-Germany Digital Economy & High-tech Industry Match-making Conference was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) in Shanghai, on Nov 6.

Sponsored by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the conference attracted approximately 80 executives from 50 renowned German high-tech enterprises and more than 200 representatives from Zhejiang to take part in meetings and discussions.

Zhejiang and Germany both have important complementary strengths in the digital sector. By utilizing our strengths we can make breakthroughs together in areas such as AI and internet of things technologies, creating exciting new business opportunities in both countries, said Zhu Congjiu, vice-governor of Zhejiang.

During the conference, a number of digital firms from both sides shared their understanding of the digital economy, with some discussing potential cooperation agreements. Dialogue between local government representatives and the German delegations also took place in order to enhance the firms' understanding of the local business environment.

At the end of the event, 14 signing ceremonies took place for contracts worth a total of $500 million.
