Construction starts on 600 major projects in Zhejiang province

A total of 600 major projects with investment of 753.9 billion yuan ($112.37 billion) broke ground in Zhejiang province Feb 28.

It was Zhejiang's first batch of projects to start construction in 2019, including three costing more than 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) and with total investment of 105.7 billion yuan. The projects feature high technology, with 238 high-tech industrial projects, 41 percent of the total, included. The high-tech projects gained total investment of 309.6 billion yuan.

In 2019, Zhejiang will continue efforts to improve infrastructure and people's livelihoods, with investment in 50 projects concerning high-speed rail and road systems. Once completed, there will be another 170 kilometers of high-speed railways and 315 km of extra roads in the province. A total of 134 livelihood projects will also be constructed, covering culture, education, sports, health and affordable housing.

In addition, Zhejiang encouraged the participation of social capital. Among the projects, 32 worth 60.8 billion yuan involved social capital investment.

All the projects under construction have been included on a provincial information system which allows them to be digitally monitored and managed.
