Yushan Mountain Ruins Park in Jiaxing Science City or Daqiao town, Jiaxing was inaugurated on April 26, local media reported.

Yushan Mountain used to be the only mountain in Jiaxing. Its name comes from the legend of Wu Zixu, a strategist in the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC) who was stationed on the mountain during his fight against another kingdom.

The whistling of the wind in the pines on Yushan Mountain was listed among the famous Eight Scenes in Jiaxing.

In 2017, Jiaxing Science City started building Yushan Mountain Ruins Park at a total cost of 90 million yuan ($12.7 million).

The park includes four major zones – a commemorative zone, wetland, farming culture exhibition zone and themed rural communities featuring performances, interactive games, and scenic views.

The first and primary phase of the ruins park has been finished, while the second and third phases are under construction.

The second phase includes the construction of homestays, aiming to retain visitors for as long as possible and help them to further explore Daqiao town.

"Daqiao town not only prioritizes scientific development, but also values its rich culture," said Zhang Jianhua, Party secretary of Daqiao, noting that the ruins park is expected to become a major draw in the area.

At the inauguration ceremony, the ruins park was identified as the research base of the Jiaxing Vocational and Technical College.
