The number of registered small and micro-sized companies in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, was 635,300 at the end of November, an increase of 60.03 percent over 2017, according to statistics released by the Hangzhou authorities on Dec 9.

In 2015, Hangzhou launched a three-year plan to boost the development of small and micro-sized companies, and this year marked the end of the second phase of the three-year plan.

In recent years, Hangzhou has been making strong efforts to support the growth of small and micro-sized companies, including by bringing in skilled workers.

The city has built a large number of innovation and entrepreneurship parks to facilitate the operations of small and micro-sized businesses and has issued policies to alleviate worries among skilled workers related to household registration, education for their children, and accommodation.

In 2019, the number of workers in the city with bachelor degrees or above rose by 40.59 percent year-on-year, while the number of technical skilled workers saw a year-on-year increase of 8.69 percent.

The third three-year plan to support small and micro-sized business will be launched in 2021.
