The turnover of the China Textile City in Keqiao district, Shaoxing, in the first quarter of this year surpassed 49.38 billion yuan ($7.52 billion), a year-on-year growth of 74.71 percent, according to the management committee of the textile city.

Ever since the China Textile City piloted the market procurement trade mode earlier this year, their shipments have experienced a notable increase, said a representative of Shaoxing Weijie Imports and Exports Company Limited, a company specialized in providing customs declaration services for market entities.

The market procurement trade mode, which features quick customs clearance and value-added tax exemption, is one in which eligible business operators can buy goods with a single declaration value of up to $150,000 in market cluster areas recognized by commerce authorities and other agencies. The goods can also undergo clearance procedures at the point of purchase.

Officials said that the adoption of this new mode is an important factor behind the robust growth of foreign trade volume in Keqiao.

According to statistics, the export turnover in Keqiao exceeded 1 billion yuan over the past three months.
