Yiwu, a county-level city in East China's Zhejiang province, handled the largest number of express delivery parcels among all Chinese cities in the first quarter of this year, according to the latest data from the Yiwu municipal postal administration.

From January to March, Yiwu-based express delivery service firms handled a total of 1.928 billion parcels, generating 5.06 billion yuan ($775.7 million) in operating revenue.

Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, was second with a total of 1.91 billion express delivery parcels posted in the same period.

A total of 17.65 million express delivery parcels were involved with Yiwu's cross-border services in the period.

Yiwu is often dubbed "the world's capital of small commodities" as it is home to the world's largest wholesale market for accessories, zippers, socks, textiles, toys, and more.
