Zhejiang's foreign trade totals $527b in Jan-Oct

The import and export value of East China's Zhejiang province increased 22.6 percent in the first 10 months of this year to 3.36 trillion yuan ($526.8 billion), statistics from Hangzhou Customs showed.

The export value amounted to 2.44 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.8 percent, while the import value reached 924.24 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.4 percent.

Zhejiang had the third highest foreign trade volume among all provincial-level regions in the country over this period.

The European Union and the United States remained the province's two largest trading partners with respective trading values of 550.85 billion yuan and 503.57 billion yuan, year-on-year increases of 21.78 percent and 21.2 percent.

Zhejiang's trade with the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative increased 22.2 percent year-on-year to 1.14 trillion yuan, while its trade with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership members increased 19 percent year-on-year to 847.85 billion yuan.

Exports of mechanical and electrical products, as well as high-tech products increased 23 percent and 33.9 percent to 1.12 trillion yuan and 212.61 billion yuan.

The import and export values of private companies in Zhejiang totaled 2.54 trillion yuan, accounting for 75.4 percent of the province's total, while that of foreign-invested companies reached 543.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23 percent.
