Hangzhou Jan-Feb foreign trade maintains double-digit growth

Statistics from Qianjiang Customs in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province show that from January to February, the city's imports and exports reached 124.18 billion yuan ($19.52 billion), a year-on-year increase of 23.3 percent, accounting for 17.2 percent of the province's total.

Exports rose 37.5 percent to 87.14 billion yuan during the period, while imports dropped 0.7 percent to 37.04 billion yuan.

Mechanical and electrical products, labor intensive products, and high-tech products were the three main exports, with values of 32.39, 19.92 and 10.9 billion yuan, respectively, up 14.1 percent, 17.9 percent and 0.4 percent.

European countries, the United States and ASEAN countries were Hangzhou's three major foreign trade partners, with exports to the countries totaling 23.91, 17.01 and 14.99 billion yuan in January and February, respectively, growing 42.3, 31.1 and 1.8 percent.

Hangzhou's foreign trade enterprises continued to maintain strong vitality, with the number of enterprises making net profits in the first two months reaching 10,700, accounting for 14.7 percent of the province's total.

Hangzhou accounted for 32 of the top 100 foreign trade enterprises in Zhejiang, with a year-on-year growth of 52.4 percent. The export of 6,293 foreign trade enterprises maintained growth, accounting for 66.7 percent of the city's export enterprises in the same period.

The foreign trade value of private enterprises in Hangzhou reached 76.42 billion yuan in the first two months, growing 30.9 percent year on year.
