An event entitled "Yun Yong CEEC", kicked off in Ningbo, Zhejiang province on June 8 to promote economic and trade cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC).

The city launched the event in 2020. Over the past two years, more than 20 activities have been held online and offline.

Though the third China-CEEC Expo has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the local authorities are still making efforts to promote cooperation.

The launch ceremony of this year's "Yun Yong CEEC" was held online, attracting politicians and businesspeople from CEE countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Poland and Slovakia.

"We've faced many challenges this year, but we've also found new ways to deal with them," said Zhang Yadong, director of the Ningbo CEEC Exhibition and Cooperation Promotion Center.

According to Zhang, the event, which is slated to run until the end of this year, will include a series of online and offline activities. Activities, such as sales campaigns and matchmaking meetings, will be held once or twice a month to promote CEEC products among Chinese customers.

This year's event also features cooperation on a wide range of industries. In addition to commonly-known specialties from CEEC, such as produce, dairy products and wood products, products related to emerging industries including digital economy and healthcare will also be involved.

In preparation for the event, shopping coupons worth 5 million yuan ($747,930) have been issued by the Ningbo authorities since May 20.
