Longquan celadon of Southern Song Dynasty exhibited in Hangzhou

An exhibition themed on the Longquan celadon of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) was launched at the Wulin branch of Zhejiang Provincial Museum on June 18 and will run until August 18.

On show are 43 cultural relics, most of which are celadon.

The cultural relics on display also include cultural relics from the Song and Yuan Dynasties unearthed in the cities of Yiwu and Yuyao. Nearly 50 pieces of contemporary Longquan celadon works by the Zhejiang Provincial Museum and contemporary Longquan celadon artists are also on display.

The exhibition is divided into two parts. The first part shows the political ideology and religious beliefs of the Song people through Longquan celadon.

The second part provides a glimpse into the culture of the Song Dynasty through Longquan celadon, which was used for dian cha (tea whipping, a popular tea-drinking ritual in the Song Dynasty), drinking, burning incense and arranging flowers.
