Located in Tongxiang city, East China's Zhejiang province, Puyuan township used to be famous for its silk from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Silk from the township was of such a high quality that it was not only exported to other countries but also often used as tributes to the royal court.

Since 1976, Puyuan has been the largest sweater distribution center in China. There are presently 20 trading areas and more than 13,000 stores selling sweaters in the township.

Boasting an annual turnover of more than 100 billion yuan ($14.93 billion), the sweater industry in Puyuan has enriched the lives of the local people and promoted common prosperity.
