Chigao, a traditional Jiangnan pastry, is an intangible cultural heritage item of Pinghu in Jiaxing.

It is made of glutinous rice flour and has no fillings but many flavors.

Jiaxing's shaomai dumplings are filled with meat rather than the usual glutinous rice.

The filling consists of minced meat and diced winter bamboo shoots.

The most famous shaomai shop in Jiaxing is the Xianxi street shaomai shop, a popular destination for local diners.

Xitang Bazhen cake is a traditional specialty of Xitang ancient town. It is made of glutinous rice flour and eight Chinese herbs including hawthorn, yam, poria, gorgon fruit, rice kernel, malt, lentil and lotus heart.
