Zhu Zhouyao from Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, recently set a new WCA average Asian women's record with a time of 5.88 seconds in the WCA Melbourne Summer 2023 speedcubing competition held in Australia.

Zhu's time was 0.14 seconds faster than the previous record of 6.02 seconds set by an Indian four years ago.

Zhu was introduced to the Rubik's Cube when she was in primary school. "At that time, I had no teacher, so I watched videos on the internet and taught myself how to solve the common third-level Rubik's cube," said Zhu.

"Solving Rubik's Cubes trains both the hands and brain. The process of going from awkward to proficient makes me feel very confident and happy every day," added Zhu.
