A Spanish football club has established a youth training base in Qingtian county – located in Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – to promote exchanges in soccer playing techniques and know-how about the sport.

The Spanish HLK Football Club Youth Training Base was officially inaugurated on May 28 in Qingtian's Gui'ao town. The base was supported by Ye Weimei, an overseas Chinese from Qingtian, who founded the club in 2017 with the aim of bringing the Spanish soccer know-how and expertise to China.

The Spanish HLK Football Club adopts the Spanish youth training system for the sport. It also recruits Chinese and Spanish teenagers for football training and organizes various sports exchange activities between the two countries. More than 5,000 young Chinese players have trained in Spain under the club's system.

Plans are for the club to undertake a series of projects in Qingtian, leveraging the county's rich football atmosphere. These projects include teaching football, international football study tours, football competitions and more.

The club will also explore ways to train elite and international young football players, improve the level of youth football in Qingtian and select and train outstanding talent to enter the professional football field.

According to a memorandum of cooperation signed between the club and Gui'ao town, the Spanish HLK Football Club's foreign coaches will conduct five-year football teaching and training at Gui'ao Town Primary School. They will provide no less than 10 hours of professional training per week for the school's football team.
