The first-ever Hungarian VR theme park recently officially opened in Ningbo city – located in East China's Zhejiang province – marking a significant milestone in Sino-Hungarian cooperation in the field of technology and culture.

On April 27, Orca Beat VR Park, a Hungarian-funded project, opened at Bonnie Bears Bay in the city's Qianwan New Area.

The park represents company Hungary VR Park's first venture in the Chinese market. It's seen as a key achievement in the growing partnership between China and Hungary in the tech and cultural sectors.

Covering an area of nearly 600 square meters, Orca Beat VR Park is designed to provide an immersive, educational and entertaining experience for Chinese families. The park's themes include Fairy Tale City for children, which aims to transport them into a dreamlike world and Dracula Hotel, which offers a thrilling, haunted-house experience.

The park's founder Gyorgy Molcsanyi shared his excitement about bringing his company's first VR park to China, citing Ningbo's welcoming environment and the city's cultural richness as key reasons for the decision.

"We want to create a magical experience with VR technology here and we aim to expand our reach to the Chinese market from Ningbo," he said.

The project is part of a broader initiative under the China-Central and Eastern European Countries cooperation framework.

Ningbo's CEEC Innovation Base, along with the local government, provided strong support to ensure the project's smooth launch. In addition, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China's entrepreneurial team helped to adapt the park's offerings to local preferences, enhancing the experience for Chinese consumers.

Gyorgy plans to showcase Orca Beat VR Park at the upcoming 4th China-CEEC Expo, highlighting the collaboration between China and Hungary and inviting visitors to experience the park firsthand.
