Nearly 50 international visitors from 13 countries, including Germany, Russia, and Pakistan, explored the scenic countryside of Tongxiang in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, on April 27, immersing in traditional Chinese culture.
The group visited Maming village in Tongxiang, where they tried silk-flossing under the guidance of local artisans. "This is so cool!" said Myskal, a visitor from Kyrgyzstan. Nearby, a vibrant Yue Opera performance in Yima village captivated the audience, drawing enthusiastic cheers.
These visitors also cooked Yehuofan, a local specialty rice dish made with bamboo shoots and salted pork, over an open firewood stove. "Jiaxing's countryside is so beautiful, and this meal is unforgettable," said a 19-year-old student from Kyrgyzstan.
The cultural immersion left a lasting impression. A Portuguese teacher described Jiaxing as "hidden cultural treasure," while a German entrepreneur, a frequent visitor, said, "This is not my first time here, but every visit brings new discoveries and joys. Jiaxing's countryside is worth visiting again and again."
The event marked the launch of a new series aimed at promoting rural tourism and cross-cultural exchange. Additional activities will follow to further show Jiaxing's rich heritage
