Wenzhou Port saw strong growth in the first four months of 2025, topping all coastal ports in Zhejiang province. From January to April, total cargo throughput reached 29.33 million metric tons, up 11.36 percent year-on-year, while foreign trade cargo surged 32.36 percent to 2.27 million tons.

Key cargo types showed solid performance: Petroleum rose 10.36 percent to 1.55 million tons, steel increased 10.85 percent to 2.22 million tons, container throughput reached 468,800 TEUs, up 9.13 percent, the number of foreign trade containers grew 17.88 percent, while domestic containers were up 6.35 percent.

The port has expanded new export businesses such as fruit, meat, used cars, and lithium batteries. Huafon Chemical Co's adipic acid and imported ferronickel shipments further boosted activity. Efficient feeder and near-sea shipping routes have improved logistics capabilities and extended market reach. Coal logistics also improved through tailored plans that stabilized supply during varying river conditions.

Wenzhou Port has strengthened intermodal transport, launching sea-rail services connecting western Zhejiang, northern Fujian, and eastern Jiangxi. These links support cargo flows from inland regions to the coast.

Operational efficiency continues to rise with optimized vessel scheduling and expanded multi-lane operations, cutting port stay times. Enhanced logistics flows, especially for steel, have reinforced the port’s role in regional supply chains.

Looking ahead, Wenzhou Port plans to expand rail links and explore modern logistics to build a more efficient, green transport network supporting regional growth.
