A group of teachers and students from the University of Washington in the United States were visibly impressed when they entered the Guyi Furniture Woodcarving Museum in Huayuan village, Dongyang county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, on May 20.
The exquisite woodcarvings, antique rosewood furniture, and traditional craftsmanship embodying Eastern aesthetics captivated the group. They observed workshops where artisans demonstrated the intricate processes, from carving to polishing.
Three days ago, the group embarked on a five-day immersive exploration of China's rural transformation in Huayuan village. The visitors learned about the village's development, praising its blend of urban efficiency and rural charm.
They also explored cutting-edge smart manufacturing at local firms, tried their hands at making traditional lanterns, and experienced Chinese calligraphy.
From the Ferris wheel at the Huayuan amusement park to the beautiful night views of the Jixiang Lake, the experiences left a deep impression on everyone.
Sun Qingyi, a Shanghai native studying in the US, served as a guide and translator for the group. "I'm honored to introduce my homeland to my peers and teachers," Sun said.
As one of China's top international rural tourism destinations and a national 4A-rated scenic area, Huayuan village is integrating its resources and offering diverse tourism products to attract more national and international visitors and to enhance their experiences.
