The 2025 Grand Canal Cultural Belt Beijing-Hangzhou Dialogue will open at the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing on May 29.

Held through May 30, the event will take place across one main venue in Tongzhou district, one feature venue in Xicheng district, and five extension zones in Dongcheng, Chaoyang, Haidian, Shunyi, and Changping districts. These seven districts will host a series of cultural, creative, and community activities to show the Grand Canal's cultural heritage, urban charm, and innovative potential.

With a history of more than 2,500 years, the Grand Canal, connecting Beijing and Hangzhou, served as a significant transportation artery in ancient China.

The highlight of the event, a high-level forum titled "Canal Dialogues", will focus on two core themes.

The first explores how digital technology empowers cultural heritage and urban sustainability, with case studies such as Black Myth: Wukong and Dunhuang mural conservation. The second addresses development strategies for canal cities and waterfront economies, spotlighting the interplay of tourism, commerce, and cultural integration.

Alongside iconic Beijing delicacies like Peking duck from Quan Ju De and traditional pastries from Dao Xiang Cun, the event will feature Hangzhou's culinary excellence. Chef Liu Guoming and his team from Hangzhou Restaurant will demonstrate signature Zhejiang cuisine, while renowned brand Zhi Wei Guan will offer a modern take on traditional desserts with a do-it-yourself area.
