A quiet revolution is unfolding in Yongfu village, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

From the aroma of wood-fired bread to the buzz of livestreaming studios selling local produce, the village driven by e-commerce and returning young folks is emerging as a shining example of its kind in Zhejiang.

Once struggling to sell its sweet potatoes, ginger, and beef due to limited channels, Yongfu village turned the tide in late 2024.

That's when the village established a special company to promote the rural economy and launched a livestream studio that quickly gained popularity, with its debut session attracting over 10,000 viewers and 1 million likes.

To overcome brand standardization, the company partnered with Zhejiang University of Science and Technology to redesign packaging and refine product formats.

This combination of online and offline strategies has brought real tangible benefits. Since June 2024, Yongfu village has increased its collective income by over 500,000 yuan ($69,645) and created eight new jobs.

Meanwhile, the village is becoming a magnet for young entrepreneurs. Former urban workers like Zheng Jiaheng now run livestream operations, while others have launched artisanal bakeries and boutique cafes.

Local plans integrate food, cultural experiences, and nature to create full-day rural getaways, sustaining the economic momentum.

Yongfu village's transformation, powered by digital tools and youthful energy, has turned this once-quiet mountain village into a thriving model of rural prosperity.
