The Shaoxing Metro Line 1 spur line, linking the Exhibition and Convention Center Station with Shaoxing North Railway Station, has passed its pre-operation safety assessment and is set to begin service on June 30.

The new metro extension marks a significant step toward seamless integration between high-speed rail and urban transit in Shaoxing.

The spur line runs approximately 7.3 kilometers and includes six underground stations. The initial phase, covering 3.22 km, will open two of these: Exhibition and Convention Center Station and Shaoxing North Railway Station.

Currently, metro systems in Hangzhou and Shaoxing are interconnected, but traveling entirely by subway from Hangzhou to central Shaoxing takes nearly two hours.

With this opening, Shaoxing residents will be able to take the metro directly to Shaoxing North Railway Station — a key stop on the Hangzhou–Ningbo high-speed rail line. Passengers arriving by train can easily transfer to the city's metro system to reach the downtown area or Keqiao district.

Tourists arriving by rail will also benefit, with quick metro access to major sites such as Lu Xun Native Place and Shen's Garden.
