A group of 13 international young adults — led by Dimitrios Foukis, head of the Public Diplomacy Office of the Greek Consulate General in Shanghai — recently explored the rich cultural heritage of Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, East China's Zhejiang province.

At the newly opened Longquan Sword Museum, the group gained a comprehensive understanding of the history, cultural significance, and craftsmanship of Longquan swords, whose forging technique was included on China's list of national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.

Jenny from the Philippines admired the intricate sword-making techniques and the historical roles these swords played, and praised China's efforts in preserving its history.

The delegation then visited the Shen Guanglong Sword Shop, where they admired modern Longquan sword creations. These creations blend traditional crafts with modern aesthetics.

Longquan celadon's traditional firing technique is the first ceramic project globally included on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

At the Longquan Celadon Museum, the young adults explored classic pieces and innovative works by contemporary masters. Susanna from Poland was captivated by the colors and patterns of Longquan celadon, particularly the dragon-patterned vases.

In the Wang'ou Taoxichuan Ceramic Art Avenue in Longquan, the group visited pottery workshops and art spaces to experience modern expressions of celadon techniques. At a sword workshop, they also tried their hands at forging, feeling the power and warmth of traditional craftsmanship.
