Veteran-led startup in Ningbo transforms urban transport

Businessman Zhu Bo knows what it means to lead from the front — and he's bringing that same energy from the streets of Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province, into China's smart mobility revolution.

A former armed police officer, Zhu is now the founder of Xiaoliu Sharing Information Technology Co Ltd, one of China's fastest-growing e-bike sharing platforms.

His company operates in over 100 cities, serving more than 80 million users — and he's bringing fellow veterans along for the ride.

Built on the habits of discipline and precision, Xiaoliu's success feels less like a startup story and more like a well-executed mission. From developing AI technology that guides e-bikes into perfect parking, to co-authoring national service standards, Zhu has turned order into a competitive edge.

But for Zhu, it's not just about innovation or market share. It's also about loyalty.

More than 100 veterans now work at his company. They're not just employees — they're teammates. Zhu has created a workplace that reflects the structure and spirit of military service, offering clear training paths and chances to lead. As he puts it: "If I made it out, I won't leave my brothers behind."

Now, Zhu is stepping into the digital frontier. The company's latest initiative — called FENS — blends physical and virtual spaces through AR, opening up new possibilities in entertainment, education and in future urban life.

For Zhu, sharing doesn't just mean shared bikes. It means shared responsibility, shared growth — and making sure no one gets left behind.
