The Baifu Eraser Processing Workshop in Baishui village, Duze town — located in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province — recently prepared to ship 2 million erasers to Yiwu in Jinhua, Zhejiang province for export to Mexico.

The workshop is operated by Pujiang Jichao Stationery Company based in Pujiang county, Jinhua. According to Chen Jichao, general manager of the company, the workshop has sold hundreds of millions of erasers globally.

The Baifu Eraser Processing Workshop has 11 machines and seven production lines, producing erasers at 265 per minute, with a daily output exceeding 150,000 units.

Chen, born in Qianling village in Duze town, started selling erasers in Yiwu in 2013, set up his company in 2014, and launched his brand, Zhongbo Erasers, entering international markets.

The sales network of his company spans worldwide, with exports to Russia, India, Mexico, Vietnam, and beyond.

In 2024, Baishui village launched the Common Prosperity Workshops initiatives, offering incentives like rent waivers to attract businesses. Chen set up the workshop there, contributing over 180,000 yuan ($24,970) annually to the village.

"Beyond hometown ties, the enhanced transportation network and business environment support production and market access," Chen said.

The eraser business now extends to surrounding villages, creating jobs and significantly boosting the income of local villagers.
