The Quzhou municipal government held a news conference on Sept 2 to announce recent developments in archival and historical documentation in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

The event highlighted the release of 18 significant historical records, the launch of a new Red cultural resource database, and the upcoming opening of an archival cultural exhibition, marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931–45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The city's archives currently house 415 volumes and 718 items from the wartime period, including telegrams, letters, and directives.

An archival survey initiated earlier this year identified over 160 valuable documents from the wartime period, with 18 significant ones selected for this release. These documents offer an authentic glimpse into Quzhou's local governance and societal activities during the war.

Quzhou's Red cultural resource database was launched at the event. This digital archive contains 1,839 entries of Red cultural heritage across the city.

Red cultural resources refer to the valuable historical cultural heritage left by the Communist Party of China during its leadership of the Chinese people through the nation's revolution, construction, and reform.

Additionally, it was announced that the Quzhou Archival Cultural Exhibition Hall was set to open in mid-September. Covering 2,664 square meters, the exhibition hall features three sections — including a 1,750-square-meter main hall that uses modern technology for an immersive experience — showing the history and culture of Quzhou.
