A grand gathering was held in Beijing's Tian'anmen Square on Sept 3 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Among the guests were overseas Chinese, including representatives from Zhejiang province.

Fu Xumin, an overseas Chinese based in the Netherlands and originally from Lishui, said it was a great honor to attend the commemoration.

He added that no matter where they live, Chinese abroad share the same breath and destiny with the motherland, and he wished China continued strength and prosperity. Fu also said he hopes to share her experience of the commemoration with fellow overseas Chinese.

Zheng Jincun, an overseas Chinese from Wenzhou now living in Serbia, said that in his 23 years abroad, every return to China brought a sense of profound change.

Attending the ceremony in Beijing, he said, left him impressed by the scale of the event and the bearing of Chinese service members, which underscored for him the nation's growing strength. He also expressed his hope for a brighter and stronger future for China.
