Residents from Ningbo, Zhejiang province, made a notable impact in China's V-Day military parade to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

On Sept 3, Tian'anmen Square was the venue for a large military parade featuring multiple contingents and thousands of participants. Among them were Liu Siwei, a junior at the College of Science and Technology Ningbo University, and Wang Jue, a graduate of Ningbo City College of Vocational Technology, who marched with the militia formation.

Liu, who served in the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 2022, returned to university in 2024 and secured her place in the parade after rigorous city and provincial selection. Wang, a former soldier and reservist, was also part of the formation.

Xie Hanyu from Yuyao, a county-level city in Ningbo, also participated in the militia contingent. A veteran of the aircraft carrier Liaoning, she represented her city's historical legacy, highlighting patriotic and revolutionary traditions, on the national stage.

In addition to the military units, a mass choir of 3,000 university students performed classic wartime songs. Chen Siyao, a graduate from Ningbo Foreign Affairs School, served as one of the conductors, leading the choir through the performance.

Active-duty servicemen from Ningbo, including Zhu Yaobin, Luo Yixin, Yang Jiakun, and Chen Qiwei, provided ground and aerial support during the parade. Their involvement underscored Ningbo's long-standing tradition of military service and civic pride, demonstrating the city's prominent role in a ceremony honoring both history and national dedication.
