Digital entertainment zone doubles at Global Digital Trade Expo
The Digital Entertainment Zone, dubbed the most exciting section of the upcoming 4th Global Digital Trade Expo, will debut in Hall 3 with a venue that is twice the size of last year's.
The expo will take place from Sept 25 to 29 in the Hangzhou International Expo Center, which is located in the city.
Highlighting China's so-called "new cultural trio" — online games, web literature and web dramas — the zone is set to combine industry displays with interactive experiences.
Visitors can test online gaming leader Tencent's Delta Force, a free-to-play tactical first-person shooter video game. They can join in esports games with professional LGD players — expert video game competitors who play for the top team called LGD Gaming — as well as shop at the I Am What I Am pop-up store and interact with AI-driven holograms and dinosaurs.
One hall is being themed on Dunhuang city in Northwest China's Gansu province. Dunhuang is home to the world-renowned Mogao Grottoes — made up of 492 separate caves that house about 45,000 square meters of ancient murals and more than 2,000 painted sculptures — and the hall will digitally recreate the marvelous scenes using AI technology.
The zone will also spotlight cultural tourism technology, such as AI tour guides, digital heritage models and platforms that are revitalizing traditional crafts like embroidery from the Miao ethnic minority.
With 58 companies participating — including Tencent, NetEase and leading web literature and short drama producers — the zone will underscore China's growing cultural exports.
International matchmaking events with BRICS member states and Asian partners are expected to further connect Chinese digital culture with global markets.
