Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province will stage a world-class tennis spectacle this October, with the 2025 Ningbo Open set to attract top-ranked players from around the globe.
The WTA 500 tournament will run from Oct 11 to 19 at the Ningbo (Yinzhou) Tennis Center, offering some of the best-ever competition and a really pumped-up vibe for fans.
The singles main draw features 16 of the world's top 20 players, including local stars Zheng Qinwen and Wang Xinyu. Zheng, the Paris Olympic women's singles champion and Wang — a rising star who recently finished runner-up at the WTA 500 Berlin event — will enjoy home-court advantage.
Four Grand Slam champions — Wimbledon 2022 winner Elena Rybakina, Wimbledon 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova, US Open 2021 winner Emma Raducanu and French Open and Wimbledon titleholder Barbora Krejcikova — also headline the field.
Other top contenders include Amanda Anisimova, Mirra Andreeva, Jessica Pegula, Jasmine Paolini, Daria Kasatkina and Karolina Muchova.
Upgraded facilities at the Ningbo (Yinzhou) Tennis Center included a retractable roof, a new 1,200-seat grandstand, enhanced lighting, screens and player and media centers.
Fans can attend practice sessions, shop at themed merchandise stores and enjoy the transformed Tennis Life Festival — featuring food, outdoor camping, creative markets and sponsor-branded stands where fans can engage in activities.
Organizers are stressing the tournament's role in promoting professional tennis in China and in linking the Chinese season to the global circuit.
