Zhejiang's caviar mooncakes redefine Mid-Autumn luxury
As Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, premium caviar from Zhejiang province is adding a luxurious twist to mooncakes — the season's signature treat symbolizing reunion and tradition.
Local caviar brand Kaluga Queen has partnered with the renowned Peking roast duck chain Dadong to launch the "Delicacies from Mountains and Waters" mooncake series. The creation combines Italian black truffles with Hangzhou-produced caviar, offering a refined balance of aroma and flavor.

"Beyond mooncakes, our world-class caviar is also served in many renowned hotels and restaurants across Hangzhou, bringing this gourmet experience to everyday dining," said a Kaluga Queen representative.
Though caviar is traditionally viewed as a Western delicacy, about 35 percent of the world's supply now comes from Hangzhou Qiandaohu Xunlong Sci-Tech, the parent company of Kaluga Queen and the world's largest caviar producer. Its products are served in Michelin-starred restaurants, airline catering, and luxury retailers worldwide, thanks to consistent quality and competitive pricing.
In 2024, Zhejiang exported more than 200 metric tons of caviar to international markets, underscoring the province's growing reputation in high-end aquaculture and global gastronomy.
