At the 2025 World Agri-Food Innovation Conference held in Beijing from Oct 12 to 15, a project from Zhejiang Huaxin Animal Husbandry — based in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province — secured third prize in the Global Agri-Food Industry Innovation Roadshow.

The project is named the National Digital Animal Husbandry Innovation Application Construction Project (Sheep) in Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province.

The project offers a reproducible and scalable model for smart farming in the national livestock industry, standing out among 200 projects from Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

Located in Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, the Huaxin Hu Sheep Ecological Demonstration Park houses 65,000 Hu sheep and generates an annual output of 70 million yuan ($9.82 million).

The park uses modern sheep housing and intelligent facilities and utilizes a smart farming data management platform for digitalized management of breeding and farming processes.

In the park, smart ventilation, environmental sensors, and automated feeding systems enhance the living conditions of the sheep and reduce feed costs by 9.49 million yuan.

Each sheep is equipped with smart collars and electronic ear tags for comprehensive digital monitoring, improving disease prevention and reducing mortality rates to below 1 percent.

A blockchain traceability platform ensures 100 percent product inspection pass rates, while the Zhe Mu Tong digital platform manages sheep data efficiently.

This transformation from traditional to intelligent farming epitomizes Quzhou's agricultural technological advancement, paving the way for future innovations.
