Initiated by Wenzhou Medical University (WMU), the alliance brings together associations, universities, research institutes, and enterprises from both countries to jointly build laboratories, innovation centers, and training platforms. It aims to strengthen collaborative research, accelerate industrial application, and cultivate biomedical talent, while serving as a new cooperation platform under the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Silk Road of Health".

The alliance includes eight Thai institutions, such as Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, and Prince of Songkla University, and eight Chinese partners, including WMU, the China Medicinal Biotech Association, Kunming Medical University, and biomedical enterprises such as Mindray and Walvax.

The new platform will promote joint research in frontier fields, strengthen clinical technology cooperation, and support the wider application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Both sides will also establish joint diagnostic and training mechanisms, enhance public health response capabilities, and deepen exchanges among medical professionals.

WMU has actively expanded its network of Thai partnerships in recent years. Since 2011, it has worked with Burapha University on TCM cultural programs and talent training, later adding professional development bases and joint master's programs. To date, more than 700 WMU students have studied in Thailand, while exchange programs continue to bring Thai students and medical professionals to Wenzhou for training.

The launch of the new alliance is expected to further enhance bilateral collaboration in medical services, innovation, and talent development, contributing to the health and well-being of both peoples.
