A micro‑exhibition themed on Ningbo's past 20 years of civilized development arrived at the city's Old Bund on Nov 16 with a special surprise in store.
Three musicians from Spain and Bulgaria — Isidro Santos Galindo, Vladimir Tzanev and Diane de Tzanev — delighted visitors with an impromptu flash performance, expressing their affection for Ningbo, the city they now call home.
Their repertoire blended cultures and emotions: the patriotic I Love You, China, the folk classic Jasmine Flower, and Memory from the musical Cats. Piano, vocals, and wind instruments intertwined to create a rich soundscape that quickly drew a crowd.
All three performers are Ningbo residents, having lived and worked in the city for years. After the show, they toured the exhibition, which highlights two decades of civic progress — from anonymous philanthropy to to the spread of public pianos and volunteer service. Vladimir Tzanev recalled playing those public pianos himself, admiring the vision of "grandma Mo Zhiwei", who donated the first instruments to bring music closer to everyday life.
For Diane de Tzanev, who has lived in Ningbo for 15 years, the city's warmth shaped her family's choice to settle, raise children, and start a business here. "We love Ningbo. The kindness and generosity of its people make us feel at peace," she said.
The micro‑exhibition is underway across the city, inviting citizens to retrace Ningbo's journey of civilization through shared stories and cultural encounters.
