The first phase of the Gumie Ancient State Archaeological Site Expo Park in Qujiang district, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, is expected to open in the third quarter of 2026.

From 2018 to 2021, archaeological excavations in Qujiang's Yunxi township, north of the Qujiang River, uncovered four earthen mound tombs from the Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century–771 BC), which contained a wealth of valuable artifacts, including jade, stone tools, primitive ceramics, and bronze items.

Experts from the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology suggest these high-status tombs are linked to the Gumie ancient state.

This ancient state, located where it is now Quzhou, had a history of over 3,000 years, dating back to the Western Zhou Dynasty.

In November 2023, Qujiang launched the Gumie Ancient State Archaeological Site Expo Park project with a total investment of approximately 370 million yuan ($52.42 million). The project will cover approximately 32,000 square meters, including the Gumie Ancient State Archaeological Site Museum, exhibition pavilions, and a visitor service center.

The museum's main structure was completed in September.

According to an official from the Qujiang district culture and tourism bureau, the museum will feature cutting-edge technologies, including holographic projections and AR interactions, to create immersive cultural experiences.
