The 2025 Shaoxing China International Disc Golf Open and a related sports carnival opened in Shaoxing on Dec 13, drawing nearly 200 players from China and abroad and turning the host venue into a lively weekend destination.

The two-day event featured flying discs tracing colorful arcs through the air, attracting large crowds to watch the competition. The tournament was recognized as a B-tier professional event by international and domestic disc golf organizations, underscoring Shaoxing's growing presence on the emerging sports map.

The competition was divided into several categories, including professional, amateur, and youth divisions for younger players, making it suitable for both elite athletes and beginners. Organizers said the diverse lineup helped lower the sport's barrier to entry while maintaining high competitive standards.

Alongside the matches, the venue offered a free public disc golf experience area with interactive games. Participants earned points that could be redeemed for prizes, encouraging hands-on engagement with the sport.

The event reflects Shaoxing's efforts to integrate sports, culture, and tourism, offering residents new leisure options while enhancing the city's profile among international sporting communities.
