Ningbo-Zhoushan Port's Meishan Port Area reached a new milestone in 2025, setting a historic record by handling 13.19 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), a 17.9 percent year‑on‑year increase and its highest throughput to date.
This achievement follows a breakthrough in 2024, when Meishan became the second 10‑million‑TEU‑level single terminal within Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. Since then, the number of remote‑operated cranes has continued to grow, the intelligent truck fleet has expanded, and mixed‑operation unmanned systems have been optimized to overcome weather and nighttime constraints, driving sustained growth.
In December, Meishan earned the China Ports and Harbours Association's Four‑Star Green Port certification, adding to its earlier Four‑Star Smart Port rating and becoming the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group's first "dual four‑star" terminal. This recognition has helped strengthen its path toward building a world‑class, green, and smart mega‑terminal.
Ningbo Customs has also supported this momentum by improving regulatory models, advancing smart logistics, and promoting green transformation, helping Meishan Port Area unlock greater operational potential and contribute to the regional port economy’s high‑quality development.
