Provincial lawmakers and political advisors participating in Zhejiang province's two sessions, including Hu Xiuxiu, a deputy to the Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress and head of the Zongtai Poultry Industry Specialized Cooperative in Quzhou's Longyou county, began registration on Jan 12 in Hangzhou.
This year's two sessions refer to the fourth session of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, the legislative body, and the fourth session of the 13th Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the political advisory body.
Hu's focus is on advancing the branding of agricultural products, which aims to elevate Zhejiang's local specialties from basic agricultural products to higher segments of the industry chain and expand their market reach.
She has highlighted the distinct advantages of Zhejiang's agricultural products through an instant-heating chicken soup product. This ready-to-eat product addresses consumer demand for convenience and health, using chickens raised for 500 days and processed into additive-free, self-heating products.
Hu has emphasized standardization and digitization as crucial for brand development, noting that establishing standardized production and a digital credit system would ensure transparency and traceability, building consumer trust. She also advocates refined, unit-based products over traditional bulk sales.
She has also noted that branding agricultural products drives shared prosperity. Zongtai's "Longyou Flying Chicken" brand established nearly 3,000 breeding bases, boosting participating farmers' annual income by over 15,000 yuan ($2,150) each.
