Digital literature, online dramas, and online games have been highlighted as a fast-growing force in Zhejiang's cultural outreach, according to its 2026 provincial government work report.

In recent years, Zhejiang Publishing United Group has explored multiple avenues to expand its cultural products overseas. The group has distributed more than 8,000 online literature titles to readers in 52 countries and regions and collaborated with game developer Game Science to publish Black Myth: Wukong, which has gained global popularity.

Rui Hong, general manager and editor-in-chief of Zhejiang Publishing United Group and a member of the 13th Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has submitted a proposal calling for higher-quality global expansion of digital literature, online dramas, and online games.

Rui suggested building a provincial-level think tank platform to conduct systematic research in areas such as digital product trade, cross-border data flows, intellectual property protection, and standard-setting. He said the goal should be to create communication platforms with national and even international influence.

He also proposed establishing a cultural industry ecosystem alliance to bring together enterprises and cultivate professionals with international perspectives, cross-cultural communication skills, and hands-on experience.

Rui shared the group's own practices in digital and intelligent publishing. He said artificial intelligence has been deeply integrated across the publishing workflow, improving topic selection, content editing, and manuscript review, and significantly boosting efficiency.
